How technologically advanced are office buildings and what are tenants' digital needs?

What will you learn from the Proptech Index 2019 report?

The survey, conducted among office users, proved that there is a niche on the market for integrated office space management systems for tenants and their employees.

On average 49% of respondents stated that they would like to use new tech apps, if they were available.

On average, in every fourth company, creation of a modern, digitally advanced workplace is a part of the wider vision.

CEE countries are at the beginning of the process of implementing new integrated digital solutions in the workspace.

CBRE has undertaken a unique study in Central and Eastern Europe region (CEE) to find answers to the following questions:

  • What are the market trends? What is the level of innovation used in office buildings for increasing asset operation and enhancing the occupier experience?

  • How technologically advanced are office buildings in the capital cities of Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia?

  • What makes a building attractive in terms of new technology?

The entire research project was divided into two main parts:


Proptech Index – a specially created index assessing office buildings in terms of their technological advancement


Proptech Survey conducted among a wide group of office users regarding current knowledge of new digital solutions in their workplace and future needs.

According to CBRE resent research , 70% of occupiers intend to raise their level of real estate technology investment in the next few years mostly in a more people – centric direction. A new generation of consumers and workers (Millennials and Gen Z) are forcing employers and landlords to recognize that technology is crucial in their workplace. Moreover, 30% of companies see smart building technology as a factor in choosing a building.
